RESET: Resilient Kids
Equip Your Child with Lifelong Mental Health Skills

Growing up today is genuinely harder than ever before. Between social media pressures, academic stress, and information overload, today’s kids face challenges no previous generation has navigated.
RESET: Resilient Kids programs are developed by registered psychologists and educators who teach your child strategies matched to their stage of development – neuroscience-based skills that build true resilience. Resilience is a skill that can be taught. Teaching these skills early on is a protective measure that will benefit them throughout their life. And because the programs were co-developed and piloted with kids and teens, you can trust it’s built to actually engage yours.
We offer three different programs for various age ranges:

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from school counseling?
School counselors provide valuable support but are stretched thin (1:583 student ratio in Alberta). RESET offers specialized, evidence-based group programming led by registered psychologists, teaching preventive skills to all participants.
Will my child be singled out?
No. RESET is a group program designed for all children who want to build resilience skills in a fun way. It’s preventive mental health education, not therapy. Many children participate because their parents want them to have these skills proactively.
What if my child is already in therapy?
RESET complements individual therapy by teaching practical skills in a group setting. Many therapists encourage their young clients to participate in skill-building programs like RESET.
Is this just for kids with problems?
Absolutely not. RESET teaches skills all kids benefit from. These are foundational life skills for managing emotions, stress, relationships, and challenges.
What if my child is shy or anxious about group settings?
Our RESET facilitators are experienced in creating safe, welcoming environments. Group sizes are kept manageable, and activities are designed to meet kids where they are.
How will I know what my child is learning?
We provide regular updates throughout the program. You can also take RESET: Raising Resilient Kids yourself to learn similar concepts at an adult level.
Does my child need to attend all sessions?
We strongly recommend they do. The programs build progressively, with each session creating the foundation for the next. Full attendance ensures your child gains the complete benefit.
Will my insurance cover this?
Many extended health benefit plans cover programs led by registered psychologists. We provide receipts suitable for insurance submission and offer direct billing where available. Contact us to discuss your specific plan.
What’s the difference between Detectives, Explorers, and Expedition?
Each program is designed for specific developmental stages and challenges:
Detectives (Ages 5-9): Foundation skills, body awareness, basic emotions
Explorers (Ages 10-12): Life transitions, boundary work, managing anxiety
Expedition (Ages 13-17): Advanced skills, identity development, peer relationships
Can siblings in different grades both participate?
Yes! If programs for multiple age groups are running at the same time, siblings can each participate in their age-appropriate program.
What happens if my child misses a session?
We strongly recommend attending every session, as they are not recorded for privacy purposes. If your child has missed a day or you know they will be unavailable for an upcoming session, please contact us to go through the options available to catch them up.
My child has ADHD/anxiety/autism. Will this work for them?
These evidence-based skills support all children, especially those facing additional challenges. Our registered psychologists are experienced in adapting content to meet diverse needs.
Is this a one-time program or ongoing?
Programs run in cohorts as either half-day sessions for one week, or as 10 weekly sessions.
What does evidence-based actually mean?
Evidence-based programming means RESET’s content and methodologies are grounded in peer-reviewed psychological research and proven clinical practice. Our programs integrate established therapeutic approaches including:
– Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles
– Trauma-informed care frameworks
– Neurobiological research on stress and resilience
– Attachment theory and relational neuroscience
– Evidence-based emotion regulation strategies
Developed by registered psychologists and continuously evaluated through participant outcome data, RESET programs meet the highest standards for clinical intervention. We don’t just teach concepts that sound helpful. We teach skills that research has consistently shown to improve mental health outcomes.
